Nigerians Mocked Over 'Beautiful Jersey' Following 2-1 Loss To England

Nigerian fans are coming to terms with a loss to England in a friendly game at the Wembley on Saturday, just a day after their ‘beautiful’ jersey was the hottest sports story in the world.

First-half goals from Gary Cahill and captain Harry Kane helped England to victory, and Nigerians on social media shared their frustrations with the team that will be taking on on Lionel Messi’s Argentina, Croatia and Iceland at the World Cup.

The Super Eagles pulled a goal back shortly after the break through Alex Iwobi but only fleetingly threatened the hosts for much of the game.

The Super Eagles will hope to improve in the last warm up game against Czech Republic on June 6, while England are due to finish their preparations for the World Cup with a friendly against Costa Rica in Leeds on June 7.

Tunisia, Egypt register draws in World Cup warm up games

Meanwhile, England’s opening World Cup opponents Tunisia continued their preparations for Russia 2018 on Friday, with a draw against Turkey.

It was Tunisia’s second 2-2 draw this week, after they came back from 2-0 down against Portugal on Monday.

Egypt, who are playing without their injured star, Mohamed Salah could only manage a goalless draw against Colombia. The Pharaohs play their final warm-up match in Belgium on Wednesday before opening their World Cup campaign against Uruguay on 15 June.

Boris Becker separates from wife Lilly after nine years of marriage

The German tennis star married his second wife in 2009 and the split is reportedly 'amicable'.

Former world number one tennis player Boris Becker and his wife Lilly have separated.
A Berlin lawyer for the pair confirmed the break-up of the three-time Wimbledon winner and his Dutch model wife, German news agency dpa reports.
"The decision after a 13-year-long relationship and nine years of marriage wasn't an easy one," lawyer Christian-Oliver Moser told dpa.
Mr Moser added that the couple's main concern was their eight-year-old son Amadeus, and that the separation was "amicable."
German sports star Becker, who lives in Wimbledon, London, married Sharley "Lilly" Kerssenberg on 12 June 2009 in St Moritz, Switzerland.
That same month, they announced they were expecting a child.

Becker, who won the world-famous grass court tournament in 1985, 1986 and 1989, was previously married to actress and designer Barbara Feltus from 1993 until 2001 and they have two children together.
Before the marriage, they posed nude for the cover of German magazine Stern in a picture taken by Ms Feltus' father.
The tennis star, 50, was also briefly engaged to Alessandra Meyer-Wolden - whose father was Becker's adviser and manager in the 1990s.
In recent years, Becker has made headlines with reports of financial trouble after he was declared bankrupt in 2017.

Becker was aged just 17 when he first won Wimbledon.
Since his playing career ended, he has taken part in a number of ventures, including coaching Serbian tennis champion Novak Djokovic for three years.

Top 5 scandals of Kwesi Nyantakyi since he became GFA president

Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has been trending since news of his arrest order broke.

On Tuesday afternoon, President Akufo-Addo personally ordered the Criminal Investigative Department (CID) of the Ghana police Service to arrest the FA boss on charges of defrauding by false pretense.
If found guilty, Nyantakyi could face is likely to face up to 25 years in prison.
But, having spent a whopping 13 years at the top of Ghana football’s ladder, Nyantakyi is no novice to controversy.
The Wa All Stars CEO has often been accused of engaging in untoward acts, but most often without any evidence to substantiate the claims.
www.3newsbay.blogspot.com has compiled five of the biggest scandals that the GFA president has been involved in.

1. Allegations of match-fixing

In 2014, British newspaper The Telegraph and Channel 4 conducted an investigative piece which captured Kwesi Nyantakyi meeting some organisers of fixed matches.
The paper accused the GFA capo of being involved in untoward deals which would have seen international friendlies of the Black Stars fixed.
The Telegraph’s reporters posed as match fixers and engaged Nyantakyi over the probability of organising friendlies and influencing referees to determine the outcome of those games.
The case ended up at FIFA, but Nyantakyi was later cleared of any wrong doing by the Ethics Committee.

2. Co-efficient payments

The “co-efficient theory” became popular among Ghanaians following Nyantakyi’s appearance before the 2014 Commission of Inquiry.
The FA boss alluded to the fact that he shared an amount of $557,000 among seven management committee members of the GFA.
Intriguingly, among the beneficiaries was his former vice, Jordan Anagblah, who was deceased even before the World Cup in Brazil started.
Nyantakyi later said he calculated the shared amount using the co-efficient of seven.

3. Double friendly payments scandal

The Dzamefe Commission also uncovered that the GFA, led by Nyantakyi, took double payments in organizing preparation matches ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The Association wss found to have taken money from government to organize friendlies for the Black Stars, before again turning back to take another money from sponsors GNPC for the same purpose.
The Commission, therefore, ordered him to refund a sum of $1 million to the state following the revelations.

4. Mid Sea brouhaha

Another big controversy that blighted Kwesi Nyantakyi’s tenure as GFA boss was his handling of the Glo sponsorship deal.
The telecommunication giants had signed a $15million deal with the GFA to sponsor that Ghana Premier League, but not without a third party payment.
Mid sea, the brokers of the deal, stood to gain 15% of the total amount, however, it was later found that the agency could not be traced, leaving many to wonder who the 15% payment had been made to.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) took up the matter, but could not prosecute anyone despite storming the offices of the GFA.

5. Inconsistencies in GNPC deal

Again, following the signing of a sponsorship between the Black Stars and state-owned GNPC, the GFA listed West Head as the company that brokered the deal.
What this meant was that West Head were entitled to agency fees for the involvement in brokering the deal.
However, it was later revealed that then GNPC boss Ato Ahwoi that no third party was involved in the deal, exposing the FA in the process.

Manchester United wait on Romelu Lukaku ahead of FA Cup final

Lukaku picked up an ankle injury during the win over Arsenal at the end of last month but could be back in time to face his old club at Wembley.

Winger Anthony Martial will be available after a knee injury suffered in training.
Mourinho said: "Martial is fit, but Lukaku - we have to wait until the last moment.
"I don't want to lie to you and say he doesn't play and then he plays, or vice versa - so we have to wait."
United improved from sixth to second place in the Premier League table in Mourinho's second season but were 19 points behind local rivals City and fell at the last-16 stage of the Champions League.
However, Mourinho does not necessarily think the club needs to win on Saturday, in order to make it a successful season.

Anthony Martial is fit for Saturday's match
"People can do they want, analyse how they want to analyse," he said.
"I can also analyse the way I want to analyse and the way I think is fair to analyse.
"Do I consider the season good or bad because of one match? When I analyse the work I did, the effort I put in, when I analyse everything we all did in the club, including the most important persons at the club - the players?
"I am not going to analyse because of one - very important - match

Mourinho and Antonio Conte go head to head once again on Saturday afternoon
"I know what they [the players] did, I know the effort they put in, I know the positive things and the negative things.
"I am not going to change my analysis of the season because of one result, not at all."
Mourinho has a superior record in cup finals to his Chelsea counterpart Antonio Conte but he does not think that will be a factor this weekend.
"I think the winning mentality does not have to do with records or with history in finals," he said.
Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois says he expects Mourinho to come up with 'surprising' tactics for Saturday's FA Cup final
"Honestly, I think what we did in the past has nothing to do with tomorrow.
"The records don't play, what plays is 11 v 11, and everybody trying to give their best."
Asked if he thought it would be an entertaining match, Mourinho added: "I still don't understand these words, 'the entertaining'.
Look out for your team as Wembley marks the FA Cup final by displaying the name and colours of every club who entered
"Do you think 6-0 is entertaining? I don't think so.
"I think entertaining is emotional until the end, an open result until the end, everyone on their seats until the end, both dug-outs nervous and tense with the unpredictability of the result.
"For me, as a football lover, that is entertaining. So I think yes, I think it is going to be entertaining."
